Advocates for Children of New York works on behalf of children who are at greatest risk for school-based discrimination and/or academic failure due to poverty, disability, race, ethnicity, immigrant or English Language Learner status, homelessness, or involvement in the foster care or juvenile justice systems.

The purpose of AMTNYS is:
-To insure better coordination of all activities of mathematics groups in the state.
-To afford a medium of exchange views regarding the teaching of mathematics

-To encourage active interest in mathematics and mathematics education.
-To serve as liaison between the State Education Department and the field.
